It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas (+GIVEAWAY!)

24 Aug

Well, maybe not quite yet but I did see Christmas stuff in a few stores this past weekend which may have caused me to shiver involuntarily.  I love Christmas but come on, can we at least acknowledge autumn first?!  Sigh.  Anyway, I’m starting to kick my Christmas card making into high gear and I have a fun card to share using items from the newest Hero Arts catalog!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Jessica Frost for Hero ArtsI’ll admit when I first started this card I intended to color all the light bulbs.  And I did create one card and got about a third of the way through coloring and realized that it was a little too busy.  So I started over and really like how it turned out!  I stamped the Christmas Lights Bold Prints with intense black ink and then colored a line of lights with copic markers in a rainbow.  Then I applied spectrum noir clear sparkle to the colored lights and a few white lights in the same general direction.  I let that dry for a few seconds and then applied a layer of tonic crystal glaze over the lights.

I let the glaze dry overnight and then added a halo of color around the lights and went over it with spectrum noir clear sparkle.  The card practically blinds you with sparkle when you tilt it towards the light!  Next I stamped the sentiment from Poster Christmas Carols onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I trimmed it down and adhered it to the panel with foam mounting tape.  Finally I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a black card base.

Today Hero Arts is the featured partner for Partner Celebration over at Scrapbook & Cards Today and you can head over to their blog and leave a comment for a chance to win a great prize pack from Hero Arts containing the Christmas Lights Bold Prints I used in today’s card, the Color Layering Joy Message, Christmas Banner Stamp & Cut and the Champagne Sequin Mix (which I used here yesterday).

Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!

Such a fun card, and the “beginning to” sentiment is perfect w/ the lights like they’re all just beginning to light up!

I love the Christmas Lights. The B&W w/a pop of color is one of my favorite designs.
