Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop + a giveaway!

19 Jun

Good morning!  I’m back with my second card for the 2016 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop (you can find my first post here)!!  As a member of the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Design Team I get to celebrate coffee and cards all the time but the hops are extra special to me!  I love seeing everyone’s creations and the enthusiasm and excitement in our Facebook group!  If you’re new to the hop, here are some general details!  You’ll find details on my personal giveaway at the very bottom of my post!

STARTS: 9:00 AM EST Friday, June 17
ENDS: 2:59 AM EST Saturday, June 25

THEME: summer
USE: coffee, tea &/or cocoa images

We have over 55 sponsors for this blog hop!! Make sure you take the time to stop by each of the blogs as you never know what you’ll find in inspiration and surprises! You can also play along yourself and create a coffee-themed project of your own! There are no limits to the number of entries–the more the merrier.

Flash Sponsor Prizes will be announced on FB on the evening of Wednesday, June 22nd and Friday, June 24th.  That means, if you want to be eligible for a Flash Prize, you’ll want to link up before 8 PM EST on the respective dates. (Please note that if you are a winner and not on FB, you will receive an email prize confirmation.)

All Super Sponsor Prizes along with Flash Prizes will be announced on the blog, Sunday, June 26th.

For blogs that link up with blog candy, please contact your winner directly.

Resources:

Flickr <– feel free to add your projects to this group!

Pinterest <– All projects will be pinned!

Facebook <– Please note that this is a secret group because of all the coffee vendors that were trying to be members.  Anyone that is a current member of the FB group can add you or contact me directly.

Instagram <– follow along in the fun!

Social media hashtag:  ‪#‎SummerCLH (Facebook) / #SummerCLH (Instagram)

Anyone is eligible for a Super Sponsor/Flash prize if they link up a newly created SUMMER Themed Coffee, Tea &/or Cocoa project, no back-linking please. Random.org is used to draw for winners.

We ask all Super Sponsors and participants to turn off word verification. Please note that there is an annoying glitch with blogger. Even if a person does not have word verification, it still shows up. You can ignore it because it really isn’t working as a true word verification. If someone actually has word verification, it will give you an error message. <–We shouldn’t have to worry about that because everyone will have it turned off. ? One way to get around this is to ‘embed’ the comment box (settings/posts & comments/comments/comment location/embedded).

We encourage commenting on all projects that link up for the hop. Please note that it makes it difficult for commenters if you post to a gallery that needs a login/password.

And now for my card!

Today I was really in the mood for bright, happy, summery colors!  I started by stamping the cold coffee cups from Lil’ Inker Designs with versamark and heat-embossing them with white embossing powder.  I used post-its to mask some of the cups so that one cup could sit behind the others.  Next I stamped the sentiment with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I watercolored the cups in bright hues using my Mijello Mission Watercolors.  I also mixed some of the brown hues to color the coffee in the cups…you can see that some people like their iced coffee a little stronger! 😉  Personally my coffee (iced or hot) is practically beige since I add so much milk or cream!  The cup in the front would need a smidge more cream for me! 😉

Once the cups were dry I watercolored the background using the same shades.  I allowed the colors to mix which created some gorgeous purple and orange shades.  Then I used a large stitched frame to create a shaker and filled it with clear and white sequins and beads.  I really wanted the watercolors to stand out with just a little sparkly assistance from the sequins and beads.

giveaway

To celebrate the 2016 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop I’m giving away a $20 Starbucks card (or $20 to the crafty online store of your choice) to one commenter!  Leave a comment before 11:59PM EST on Friday, June 24th and tell me how you take your coffee (or tea…or cocoa!).  I’ll be posting several times this week and you can comment on every post for additional entries!  Find my first post here!

If you’re here for the first time I hope you’ll come by again!  You can also find my cards on Instagram and Facebook, my video tutorials on YouTube, and you can subscribe to my blog via the button the right!

I hope you’ll join the hop this week by creating a spring-themed coffee, tea, or cocoa card!  I can’t wait to see what you will create!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous Friday!

    Hey Jess,

Great watercolor coffee shaker card but that sentiment is the bomb, really! I am allergic to chocolate, and drink a little coffee in the winter at gatherings. But my fave coffee drink is Caribou cold coffees, vanilla or salted caramel. They are so refreshing but the caffeine packs a whollop so I do not drink them too late.Always love your cards…no matter what!

Such a beautiful coloring job. The shaker just makes it awesome. I don’t do coffee but love weak unsweetened tea with lots of ice. Thanks for your give away.

Love the cheery summery colors. I drink my tea plain but I drink different kinds of tea–usually hibiscus green and white.

My eye was really drawn to the colors. Gorgeous
    card.

I like my coffee with ¾ cream and sugar. Light roast. I know, there’s only ¼ cup of coffee in it. What can I say?

If I drink hot chocolate I really like it with loads of marshmallows and then end up adding more.

Tea I love as long as there is cream and sugar in it.
