Hero Arts August My Monthly Hero Blog Hop (+ GIVEAWAY)

1 Aug

This is my second post for today…for my Lawnscaping Challenge post, please scroll down or click here!  For my Christmas in July giveaway, please click here!

Good afternoon!  Today is the release day for the Hero Arts August 2016 My Monthly Hero and I am so honored and excited to be celebrating the release with the Hero Arts Creative team and other special guests!  You should have arrived from Lydia Fiedler’s blog but if not, you can head to the Hero Arts Blog to start at the beginning!  The new kit is now available for purchase at Hero Arts and once they’re sold out, they’re gone for good so make sure to head over and shop soon!  The August kit was inspired by Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and features a beautiful woodland fairy theme.

So here are the details…the kit contains:

  • A 4×6 clear stamp set
  • Three matching Frame Cuts dies
  • An oval border with frame Fancy Die set
  • Pretty Pink Posh Droplets
  • Ranger Star Dust Stickles
  • Three ink cubes in Bubble Gum, Orchid and Green Apple
  • Woodgrain Cardstock and Vellum
  • Other gems and cardstock
There are also four optional add-on items:
  • DI320 Floral Border with Frame Fancy Die
  • SA082 Dreamy Nights Stencil
  • CM105 Dreams Are Made 4×6 clear set
  • CM106 Shakespearean Poetry 4×6 clear set

Don’t forget to check out the bottom of my post for details on how to win a kit!

Here’s what I created with the kit:

As soon as I saw the beautiful border die I wanted to do a layered shaker card.  So to start I painted a night sky on a piece of watercolor paper with my Gansai Tambi watercolors.  I let it dry completely and then flicked on white acrylic paint.  Once that was dry I stamped the sentiment and stars and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder.  Then I die-cut the woodgrain paper with the oval die.  I also die-cut the same oval from silver glitter paper but die-cut the back of the glitter paper so the design would be reversed.  I adhered those together and then added a layer of acetate.  I filled my shaker with tiny iridescent stars and the Delphinium mix from Lucy Abrams and sealed it with the watercolor paper.

Next I stamped the fairy onto white cardstock with copic-friendly ink, die-cut her with the coordinating die, and colored her with copics.  I added stickles to her wings and let them dry.  Finally I adhered her to the card with foam mounting tape for a little dimension.  I love all the varieties in texture and dimension…reminds me of a midsummer night! 😉

giveaway

What an elegant but whimsical card.
I’m attracted to anything Shakespearian and your catches A Midsummer Night’s Dream perfectly.
I like the cheeky addition of the shaker card element too.

Galaxy Fairy Vibe! Love it! Hero Arts kit is a mixed of elegance and magical vibe! I love it and it is perfect for my card making projects. I’ve been sending letters to different part of the world and my letters will look so beautiful with the use of these stamps! The Shakespearean Poetry Stamp is one of the stamps that I liked the most because of poetry and words on it but I also like the Fairy Stamp and Dreams Are Made Stamp because they are very detailed! I really want this kit and I can’t wait to use them and share them with my friends!
