Christmas Card Challenges #7: Santa Hats and our new Facebook group!

18 Jan

Christmas Card Challenges JessicaHi again, I’m back with the newest Christmas Card Challenge!  I also wanted to share our new Facebook page for Christmas Card Challenges.  I hope you’ll come visit us over there!  We’ll be sharing the winning cards as well as highlighting a few noteworthy cards each week!  And many congratulations to our winner and top three from the last challenge.  It was wonderful seeing all of your CASE cards!

We have a fun inspiration photo for this week: Santa hats!

When I saw this week’s challenge I went through my stamps and realized that I actually didn’t have a single Santa stamp.  Oops.  However, I had these super cute birds from the Penny Black Winter Wonderland stamp set and decided that their hats would be perfect!

Here’s my card:

Penny Black Winter Wonderland www.allthesparkle.comTo start, I cut a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock with the Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle dies and ran it through my big shot with an embossing folder.  Unfortunately I don’t remember the brand or name of the embossing folder but it’s polka dots and I thought it resembled falling snow.  Then I used Neenah desert storm cardstock to cut branches using the Momenta cherry blossom die cuts.  The birds were colored with copic markers and I embellished their hats with coarse glitter.

For the sentiment I started by stamping and die-cutting the word bubble from a Lawn Fawn set.  Then I took the ‘Ho’ stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Furry Christmas  set, cut off the ‘3’ and stamped it with Mama Elephant pigment ink in Apple.  To finish the card I cut a rectangular frame from the same SSS stitched rectangle set out of Simon Says Stamp schoolhouse red cardstock and set it around the white base.  I love the way the birds turned out…my favorite is the one with the hat completely over his head.  So cute!

Make sure you visit the rest of our talented design team!  I hope you’ll play along in this week’s Christmas Card Challenge and I look forward to seeing your cards!

Love the birds in their Santa Hats 🙂 I have the same embossing folder, but I only wrote “dot background” so I don’t know if that’s the name or my name for it LOL.
