Cheering You On!

19 May

Good morning and Happy Friday!  Popping in with a quick card to share!  A lot of my crafty friends seem to be going through rough patches the last few weeks so I’ve been working on building my encouragement card stash so I can send some happy mail out! 🙂 And this is one of the cheerful cards I created! 🙂

Cheering You On by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says StampI started by inking the Emma background stamp on my MISTI lid with abandoned coral, picked raspberry, and festive berries distress ink and spritzed it with water.  Then I closed the MISTI lid and carefully pressed the stamp down on watercolor paper.  After 20 seconds or so I carefully lifted the lid and then let the distress ink dry.  I did not remove the stamp from the MISTI so I could use it again.  Once it was totally dry I applied my powder tool to the background and then shifted my watercolor paper just slightly to one side.  I inked the background stamp with versamark and then stamped it on the watercolor paper with the MISTI.  Since I used bumpy watercolor paper I restamped the versamark several times to make sure it would get a good impression.  Then I heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder.  Moving the watercolor paper resulted in a gold embossed “shadow” over the distress ink!

Cheering You On by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says StampNext I die-cut a black frame using some of the stitched rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp and adhered heat-resistant acetate behind the frame.  Then I stamped the sentiment with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  When embossing on acetate make sure your heat gun is SUPER hot before you bring it to the acetate to lessen the chance of warping the acetate!  I also lightly rub a dryer sheet over the acetate before embossing to help cut down on static otherwise your embossing powder will stick everywhere (no matter how much of the anti-static powder tool you use)!

Then I built up a wall on the back of the frame with a double layer of foam mounting tape and filled it with the Sunset mix from Lucy Abrams, metallic gold sequins, and sparkling clear sequins before sealing it with the watercolor panel.  I deliberately used a smaller frame so that a little bit of the embossed design would show around the frame as well as inside it!  I love how bright and sparkly it is and I’m hoping it will make my friend smile! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful Friday!

Wow, sooo gorgeous! Love the shaker and the colorful shadow stamped technique. I haven’t done it with colors, just neutrals but I LOVE the colorful “shadow!” Thanks so much for sharing.
