Lawnscaping Challenge: Under the Sea

31 May

Don’t forget to enter my 2nd Blogiversary Giveaway for a chance to win $50 to the crafty store of your choice!  You can find that post by clicking here!

Good morning!  I was working on a card for the Lawnscaping blog and ended up with three so I’m sharing one over there and two over here!  Mermaids everywhere!! 🙂

My first card is quite CAS (I know, I know…almost never happens around here!) 🙂

I had one leftover mermaid from my coloring frenzy and didn’t want to leave her out!  So I stamped the sentiment from Lovable Legends with versamark and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder.  Then I adhered my mermaid and seahorse with foam mounting tape and added a healthy covering of spectrum noir clear sparkle!

Then it was shaker time!

When I first got my mermaid set I stamped a ton of mermaids and sea creatures with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder onto watercolor paper.  Then I spent an afternoon watercoloring them with my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors before cutting them out with my ScanNCut.  Most of my sea creatures went to my Lawnscaping card but I did have a few leftover for my shaker!  For this card I started by painting the background with distress inks.  I used Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon (of course!), and Chipped Sapphire distress inks.  I also added flicks of water to create subtle bubbles throughout my background panel.  Next I added my mermaids and their pet narwhals and a small herd of colorful seahorses with foam mounting tape.  I stamped the sentiment with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I filled my shaker with a mixture of clear sequins, seed beads, and microbeads to create the look of bubbles!  The frame for my shaker was cut with a stitched rectangle die and is mounted with a double layer of foam mounting tape to allow the beads to move freely.

And that’s it!  Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope you’ll head over to the Lawnscaping blog to see my third card!

Hi Jess, really cute! Of coarse you know I love you be the shaker, lol. The card with all the fish surrounding the mermaid reminds me of Ariel, very cute idea. TFSAAI.
