You’re So Stinkin’ Cute

4 Feb

Good morning!  As you can probably tell I’ve been completely obsessed with my alcohol inks recently!  Pretty much everyday I experiment with different color blends or ways of applying ink to yupo paper.  Some of the experiments result in pieces that could be featured as artsy backgrounds (as you’ll see tomorrow)…however, sometimes I have pieces that have interesting sections, but they’re not something I really want to feature in a design.  So I have to find another use for them… 😉

Today’s card uses one of those pieces….I shared it on instagram yesterday and while I liked the way it turned out, it was WAY too busy to use for a background.  So I decided to let it take a backseat to one of the cutest critter stamps I’ve ever seen!

You're So Stinkin' Cute by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

Over the summer I found a trio of baby skunks on the side of the road (unfortunately, next to their deceased mother) and took them to a wildlife rehabber as they were too young to be on their own. My car wasn’t thrilled due to the lingering smell for several weeks but they were SO adorable!!  (I was not brave enough to hold them…that’s the rehabber) 😉

Anyway, after seeing those baby skunks I was on the lookout for a cute skunk stamp.  Stinkin’ Cute is an older set from Simon Says Stamp but it was perfect!  I stamped my skunk with copic-friendly ink and then colored him with copics.  I also stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I fussy-cut my skunk with a border and trimmed the sentiments down to thin label strips.

Next I die-cut the Cupid’s Heart Border die from white cardstock and adhered it over a strip of my alcohol inked background.  The strip uses raspberry, coral, salmon, and crimson alcohol ink with blending solution on translucent yupo.  I also die-cut a few hearts from the same background to add last.  Next I added my skunk and sentiment to the panel with foam mounting tape.  Finally I added a few accents with a white gel pen and added the little alcohol inked hearts.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What a sweet card Jessica! Love that inked background you cut the hearts from. And you’re a brave girl for rescuing those baby skunks. I’m glad you were able to help them.

Beautiful alcohol ink piece and super cute skunk card. So brave of you to take the baby skunks to a wildlife refuge and to cover your gorgeous background! It is so pretty peeking through the hearts.

I love your cute skunk card. That is so fun and adorable! Great design. And, you are braver then me I think to take the skunks to a shelter but it was an awesome kind thing for you to do. They are so cute too when they are little like that.

This card is so stinkin’ cute – and, a great way to use those alcohol ink pieces in a different way. So glad you were able to help those sweet little orphans.

Your card is lovely and even better knowing it’s in honour of three cute stinkin creatures. It was a great thing you did to stop and rescue those babies or it would have been a massive tragedy instead of a bad one. Did they name a girlie stinkin after you ?

Love this sweet card. It’s fab that you rescued the orphaned skunks. Looks cute in the pic, but I wouldn’t go near it.
