Guest-Designing for So Suzy Stamps (+ a giveaway)!

I am so excited to be guest-designing for So Suzy Stamps today!  Suzy is one of the nicest ladies in the crafting industry and I’m very grateful to call her a friend!  So Suzy Stamps is celebrating their anniversary this month and I’m thankful she asked me to join in the festivities!  Today I’m sharing a trio of cards using the Tulip stamp!  My goal was to create three cards that used the same stamp but had totally different looks and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out! 😉

My first card uses distress inks and the Joseph’s Coat technique!

I started off by blending Spun Sugar, Ripe Persimmon, and Picked Raspberry distress ink onto a piece of watercolor cardstock.  I let it dry overnight and then stamped the tulip all over the background panel with versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Next I smeared a black dye ink pad all over the background panel.  Once the panel was totally covered with black ink I used a dry cloth to buff the ink off of the embossed sections.  The clear embossing powder sealed in the pretty distress ink tulips and really allowed them to stand out against the stark black background!  To finish my first card I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum and embossed it with white embossing powder.

My second card uses a similar color palette but a very different look!

I started by masking off a vertical strip on a piece of watercolor cardstock with post-it tape.  I stamped the Tulip with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  Next I blended a little Spun Sugar distress ink over the entire strip.  Then I used zig clean color real brush markers to add a little color to each tulip and then blended it out with a waterbrush.  I removed the post-it tape and stamped the sentiment with versafine and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

My last card does use the Tulip stamp even if it doesn’t look like it at first! 😉 I stamped the Tulip eight times in a circle alternating with pink and red inks.  Super simple but I LOVE the result!  I splattered some black ink over the top and then added the label sentiments with foam mounting tape!  I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a black card base.  Again, similar color palette (which wasn’t intentional) but different result!

So that’s my trio!  Do you have a favorite?  After I finished I realized that there was no sparkle in any of these cards (the horror!!) so I’m definitely focusing on shimmer, sparkle, and metallics next week! 😉
