Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Day 5 and a GIVEAWAY!

9 Jun

Good morning!  Here’s my fifth entry into the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

So, when I teach ornaments in music to my students I often use the analogy that ornaments are the sprinkles on a cupcake…the music is the cake, the dynamics and expressive markings are the frosting, and the ornaments are the rainbow sprinkles.  You could have a cupcake without sprinkles but it wouldn’t be as exciting, right?  It’s an analogy that works really well for teaching young students.  However, I’m so not telling the truth when it comes to sprinkles.  For me, personally, the sprinkles totally make the cupcake worthwhile and I’m not really that interested in eating one without them.  I also order sprinkles on my ice cream cones and often give half the ice cream to my husband after I’ve eaten the sprinkles off the top.  I’m weird I know.  But I get ridiculously excited when the lady at Starbucks gives me extra sprinkles on top of my drink.  I don’t ask for them so it’s always a nice surprise.  When I saw that sentiment stamp in the new coffee stamp set from Lil’ Inker I knew it would be perfect for today’s card!

I started off by stamping the full drink cups onto a scrap of Neenah Solar White cardstock and the bottoms of the cups onto a piece of peachy patterned paper.   I colored the cups with copic markers and added clear wink of stella glitter to the whipped cream.  Then I stamped the sprinkles onto one of the cups with versamark and heat-embossed them with Ranger superfine gold embossing powder to resemble the crunchy caramelized sugar sprinkles on my favorite Starbucks drink, the caramel brulee latte!  Then I fussy cut the cups and the sleeves from patterned paper and set them aside to work on the rest of the card.

I took a piece of peachy orange cardstock and die-cut some letters using the Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs die set.  I also cut a fishtail banner and stamped the sentiment in Versafine.  I arranged each of the cups on the card and adhered the sleeves on top.  I used multi-medium matte to attach the letters and my ATG gun to attach the banner and cups before adhering the cream colored panel to a white card base.

GIVEAWAY

I will be selecting one random commenter to win a $20 gift certificate to Lil’ Inker Designs to pick up some of their awesome coffee OR summer sets!  I will be posting each day during the Hop…each post you comment on will get you another chance to win!  If you missed a day you can find them here, here, here, and here!  Also, subscribing to my blog via the button on your right will also get you another chance (and if you’re already a subscriber, I’ll count that as an entry, too!)! 😉

Thanks so much for visiting and see you tomorrow!

SPRINKLES. I understand now. My daughter loves them. I watched her eat her ice cream last night and get up to get more sprinkles. LOL. She just smiled and said mom they’re the best part of it.
