Christmas in July Week 4 (+VIDEO and a GIVEAWAY!)

31 Jul

Hello and welcome to the final week of Christmas in July!  I had to postpone my video for a couple of other crafty projects last week but I’m glad that I was able to squeak this one in before August! 😉

You can find the previous week’s videos here, here, and here and make sure to read the giveaway info at the bottom of the page to make sure you’ve followed all the instructions in order to be eligible to win!

I wanted to finish up this series with a sparkly and glitter shaker because, of course, they are still my absolute favorite card to create!

You can watch today’s video below or in HD at my YouTube channel!

This card looks a lot more complicated than it actually is thanks to a clever die from Lil’ Inker Designs and A LOT of foam mounting tape!  And before I forget, the All About Ampersand stamp set and dies are currently on sale at Lil’ Inker Designs! 😉 To start I die-cut the All About Ampersand die from red cardstock and the Center Point Chevron die from white cardstock.  I turned them over and applied score tape to the red cardstock before adhering the white cardstock to the back.  Then I added ATG adhesive to the white cardstock and adhered a piece of acetate to it.  Next I applied a double-layer of foam mounting tape to the each line of the chevron die.  The Center Point Chevron has a thinner outer border so using the All About Ampersand as the frame made it easier to apply foam mounting tape to the outer edge.  Once all the foam tape was down I filled the shaker windows with a variety of seed beads and sequins.  I sealed the back of the shaker and then adhered it to a white card base.

To finish the sentiment I stamped the words ‘merry’ and ‘bright’ from the All About Ampersand set onto white cardstock with red poppy ink from Papertrey Ink.  I fussy cut the labels and adhered them to the front of the card.  I wanted the shaker bits to really be the focus of the card so I kept the sentiment simple and let the shaker shine!

I love how all those sparkly bits look like a fancy beaded dress or a Christmas ornament.  And it definitely makes a statement!

P.S. Fun fact, the music on my video today is performed by yours truly on my harp!  This month I’ll be using tracks off of my solo Christmas album on my holiday card tutorial videos and I hope you enjoy them! ?
giveawayTo help get you in the holiday spirit I have a crafty package of a few supplies that I’ve used to create each card this month.  The total contents of the package will be a surprise for the recipient but is valued over $45!  To enter leave a comment on each of my Christmas in July posts and this week, let me know how many holiday cards you plan to send this year (or how many general happy mail cards you’d like to send this year if you don’t celebrate Christmas!) ? US and international entries welcome!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

I love this card! It is so pretty. I plan on only sending between 12-20 cards. I only send to family (mine is small) and close friends. Otherwise I stress myself right out.

Jess, shaker cards are so much fun but do take a lot of patience and time! I love your video explaining everything! I plan on sending approximately 20 handmade cards to family and closest friends! Thanks so much for a chance to win!
