Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #14 – Happy Little Critters

2 Oct

Good morning!  It’s time for a new Lawn Fawnatics challenge and we’re challenging you to create a card that allows the adorable Lawn Fawn critters to shine!  Here’s what I created:

Happy Holidays by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Lawn Fawnatics

I wanted to evoke the feeling of the northern lights but in a subtle way so the focus could be on my cute seal pair!  So I started by squirting a drop of alcohol ink in Pool, Purple Twilight, and Butterscotch onto a piece of yupo paper.  Then I added a bit of copic blending solution to move the colors around and then finally took a plastic straw and used that to push the colors around.  I let it dry and was left with that soft, pastel background which I trimmed down and adhered to a white card base.

Next I wanted to create seals with texture so I pressed a versamark pad to a piece of white cardstock and then heat-embossed it with sticky embossing powder.  Then I sprinkled white flocking all over the embossed area, tapped off the excess, placed a piece of scrap paper over the flocking, and used a bone folder to really burnish the flocking powder.  This makes sure the flocking powder won’t rub off.  Next I placed the paper into my MISTI and stamped the seals with Staz-On ink.  I inked it twice for a nice crisp impression and then die-cut it with the coordinating dies!

Next I stamped the iceberg onto white cardstock and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder.  I went over the top of it with a spectrum noir clear sparkle brush and then added a layer of nuvo crystal glaze.  I stamped the sentiment onto dark navy blue cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I trimmed that down, adhered it over the alcohol inked panel, and then adhered the iceberg.  Finally I adhered the seals with foam mounting tape.

And now it’s your turn!  We want to see your Lawn Fawn critter cards!  You can link up your entries on the Lawn Fawnatics blog and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing Monday!

That background coloring is just amazing! I know the card is supposed to be about the critters, but the background is my favorite part.
