Lawnscaping Challenge #115 – Sentiments

5 Oct

This is my second post for today!  If you’re looking for my post for The Ton please click here!

LS Sentiments

Good morning!  It’s the first Monday of the month which means we’ve got a new challenge up at Lawnscaping and it’s a fun one!  Challenge #115, sponsored by Ellen Hutson, is Sentiments!  Make sentiments the focus of your creation and one lucky winner will win a $25 gift certificate to shop at Ellen Hutson!

EHLLC 25 Store CreditI decided to make LOTS of sentiments the focal point of my card! 😉

I had a lot of fun making this over-sized card with some help from my Scan N Cut and a little bit of masking!  I started off by stamping all of the branches and bird houses onto a 4″x 8″ piece of white cardstock with versafine and heat-embossing them with clear powder.  Then I used the molotow pen to mask off the images and set that aside to dry.  The masking fluid in the pen comes out blue so it’s easy to make sure you get everything covered!

Next I stamped all the little birds, leaves and word bubbles on a couple pieces of scrap cardstock and then colored the birds and leaves with copic markers.  Next I stamped the sentiment in the word bubbles and then used the Scan N Cut to cut out all of the images.  I also die-cut the hello from black cardstock and pressed the entire word into versamark before heat-embossing it with ultra high powder.  I set that aside to cool and continued working on the background of my card.

Once the masking fluid was dry I blended distress inks onto the background to create a sky.  Then I rubbed off the masking fluid with a large eraser and colored all of the branches and birdhouses with copic markers.  I also stamped the rest of the main sentiment onto the bottom of the card with versafine before embossing it with clear powder.

Finally it was time to assemble my scene!  I adhered the birds, leaves, and word bubbles with a mix of ATG gun tape and foam mounting tape for a variation in dimension.  I used liquid adhesive to adhere the large die-cut word and placed an acrylic block over it to weigh it down while the glue was drying.  Finally I adhered it to a top-folding card base!

Thanks so much for visiting!  For more information on how to join the challenge and additional inspiration check out the Lawnscaping blog and the Lawnscaping Facebook page!
