One Layer Sympathy Card with Simon Says Stamp

26 Jul

Good morning!  I have a quick CAS sympathy card to share using the pretty Bouquet of Thanks set from the last Simon Says Stamp release.  I hate having a need to make sympathy cards but I try to keep them on hand so that I don’t have to try to create them on demand.  I decided to try a little greyscale copic blending with just a touch of lavender.

With Sympathy by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

I started by stamping Bouquet of Thanks twice with silver stone ink using my Misti.  Then I added a little T4 grey to the base of each petal and bud.  I blended it out with T2 and T1 and then added a few accents with T0 to some of the shadowed areas of each petal.  I kept the coloring simple and left the petals mostly white with just a little shaded grey.  Then I added spectrum noir clear sparkle to each flower until they really shimmered as they caught the light.  Finally I stamped the sentiment with Simon Says Stamp velvet orchid hybrid ink to stand out from the background florals.

I ended up liking the design enough that I created a few more cards using light shades of purple, pink, blue, and green for the sentiment.  I hope I don’t have need to send any of them anytime soon but at least I’m ready should I need one.  Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!

It is never an easy thing to find just the right words for a sympathy card, Jessica … yours is so pretty, and perfect. [Of course you know I’d love the shades of gray, right?]

Hi Jess ~ The softness of the grey is absolute perfection with the simple pop of color in your sentiment. Unfortunately sympathy cards are a necessary evil but these beauties will surely offer the comfort you intended. Thanks for sharing. ~HUGS~
