A Blog Named Hero: Challenge – Watercolor

15 May

Busy day on the blog!  If you’re looking for the Hero Arts Summer Catalog Blog Hop please scroll down or click here!

Good morning!!  It’s time for a new challenge over at A Blog Named Hero and today we want you to break out those watercolors!!  As a reminder, Hero Arts is the official sponsor of our challenge blog and every month we will have two fabulous prizes for our challenge!  One chosen winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Hero Arts and one randomly chosen entry will receive a $25 gift certificate to Hero Arts!  Thanks Hero!! 🙂

And here’s what I created for the challenge:

No Prob-Llama by Jessica Frost-Ballas for A Blog Named Hero

That llama just cracks me up!  I started by stamping him and the floral wreath onto watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossed him with clear embossing powder.  Then I used my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to paint him and the flowers.  I die-cut them with the coordinating dies and then set them aside while I worked on the background.

Next I took a piece of watercolor paper and added a wash of water to the top half.  Then I added big stripes of pinks and orange to create an ombre sunset.  I let it dry without blending the edges to create a bolder look.  Once it was dry I swiped a versamark pad across the bottom of the watercolor wash.  I heat-embossed it with gold glitter embossing powder to create a sandy desert for my llama.  I stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.  Finally I adhered my llama with foam mounting tape.

And now it’s your turn!  The challenge ends on June 10th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month!  Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing day!
