A Blog Named Hero: Challenge – Sparkle and Shine

15 Aug

Good morning!!  It’s time for a new challenge over at A Blog Named Hero and as you can probably guess, it’s one of my favorites: Sparkle and Shine!!  As a reminder, Hero Arts is the official sponsor of our challenge blog and every month we will have two fabulous prizes for our challenge!  One chosen winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Hero Arts and one randomly chosen entry will receive a $25 gift certificate to Hero Arts!  Thanks Hero!! 🙂

And here’s what I created for the challenge:

I love the modern feel of the new Ski Holiday stamp set from the Winter Catalog from Hero Arts and thought it’d be perfect for a cold wintery scene!  To start I stamped the hills with intense black ink and then masked them with a post-it note.  Next I blended Navy, Stone Wash, and Cornflower ink onto the panel.  I flicked it with white acrylic paint and set it aside to dry.  While it was drying I stamped the cars onto white cardstock and colored them with copics before fussy cutting them.

Once the background panel was dry I removed the post-it notes and colored the hills with copic markers.  I stamped the sentiment and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I stamped the cable line and frame with versamark and heat-embossed it with silver glitter embossing powder.  I adhered my cars with foam mounting tape and added a layer of nuvo crystal glaze for a little extra shine.  Finally I added a little extra crystal glaze to the top of my hills and sprinkled it with snowfall glitter for even more sparkle!

And now it’s your turn!  The challenge ends on September 10th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month!  Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing day!
