More for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop (+ GIVEAWAYS!)

25 Sep

Good morning!  I’m back with my second entry for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop (apparently I’m obsessed with autumn leaves these days…)!  You can find my first entry here (be sure to comment on that post and this one for the most chances at winning my giveaway…more info about that at the end of my post).  Here’s my second card (made especially with Lisaerica in mind…I like tea, too!):

I had a lot of fun mixing two of my favorite companies together for this card: Altenew for the background and MFT for the sentiment and tea mugs!  I started by stamping the leaves and sentiment onto a piece of watercolor paper with versafine and heat-embossing them with clear embossing powder.  Then I added lines of color with my zig clean color real brush markers and blended them out with a damp paintbrush.  Once I was happy with the colors I set them with my heat gun.  Next I smooshed pumice stone distress ink onto an acrylic block and painted around each leaf before blending the ink across the rest of the paper.  This is a technique I tend to struggle with because the paint tends to dry in lines before I have a chance to get it fully blended but I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I let it dry completely and then scribbled the three zig markers onto an acrylic block and splattered the red, yellow, and orange ink across my card, drying between each color.  I also added splatters of black soot distress ink.

Next I die-cut the mugs with a textured watercolor paper and added a little shading with my pumice stone distress ink marker.  I like the shading on the mugs better in person…in the photo it looks a little harsh…hmm.  I colored the inside of the mugs with copic to resemble different types (or strengths) of tea.  I die-cut the stitched hearts from yellow cardstock and attached twine to the back of each heart to create tea bag labels.  I tucked the twine into the mug and secured them from behind.  I adhered the mugs with foam mounting tape and then added a few black sequins to finish the card.

Makes me want a cup of tea! 😉 My favorite is ginger peach with a little bit of honey and lemon!  Yum!

giveaway

To celebrate the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop I’m giving away a $15 Starbucks gift card (or a gift card to the crafty online store of your choice) to one random commenter!  Leave a comment before 11:59PM EST on Friday, September 30th and I’ll announce a winner on October 1st!  I’ll be posting several times this week and you can comment on every post for additional entries.  You can find my first post here.

If you’re here for the first time I hope you’ll stop by again!  You can also find my cards on Instagram and Facebook, my video tutorials on YouTube, and you can subscribe to my blog via the button the right!  I have a big instagram giveaway going on right now to celebrate 5000 followers (look for the purple floral image)!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!
