Building a “Bike” and the Summer Stems Release from Honey Bee Stamps!

15 Jun

The Summer Stems release from Honey Bee Stamps is now available and oh my goodness, it is SOO good!!  I had a hard time deciding what to share first but the adorable Bicycle Builder won out (even though I can’t actually ride a real bike without falling over…ha)!

Bicycle Builder by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Honey Bee Stamps

Isn’t it cute?!  I started by die-cutting the pieces from metallic silver (spokes and handlebars), aqua (bike body and handlebars), white (basket) , and black cardstock (tire).  I colored my basket with copic markers and then adhered my bike together.  I used E23, E25, and E27 for the basket.  I stamped the flowers from Ridin’ By with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I colored them with copic markers (RV14, RV25, RV29, R20, R21, R24, Y32, Y35, and Y38).  I think the yellow flowers are supposed to be leaves but I decided to make them forsythia instead!  I die-cut them with the coordinating dies and added a little sparkle to the flower centers with spectrum noir clear sparkle.

Next I die-cut a piece of grey cardstock with the Slimline Horizon Borders and stamped a sentiment from Ridin’ By.  Then I took a piece of patterned paper from the Summer Stems pad, trimmed it down to an A2 panel and adhered it to a top-folding card base.  I stamped the first part of the sentiment from Ridin’ By onto the patterned paper and then adhered my bike to the panel.  I added my flowers with foam mounting tape for a little dimension and then added an enamel dot to the center of the wheel to finish the card!

And that’s it!  Head over and check out the full Summer Stems release and then let me know your favorites!  I’ll be sharing the gorgeous Coneflower and some of the crafty stamps and dies soon!!
