Heffy Doodle Blog Hop (+GIVEAWAY!)

15 Jul

Busy day on the blog!  For my Ellen Hutson guest post and giveaway please scroll down or click here!

Good morning!  I’m thrilled to be a hop stop for the Heffy Doodle blog hop!  My friend Lesley has started her own stamp company, Heffy Doodle, and we’re helping her celebrate with a huge hop, crafty giveaways, and lots of inspiration using her new stamps!  If you haven’t heard of Heffy Doodle yet you can head here to her Kickstarter page for more information in how you can support Heffy Doodle!

Here’s what I created for the hop:

Heffy Doodle Blog Hop

My card is a little bit of a tribute to Lesley!  I first discovered her on Instagram last summer when she posted this super clever interactive mermaid card!  I loved the idea of sliding the acetate around to move the mermaid into the scene and wanted to do a little spin on that for my card.  My little elephant doesn’t move all the way around the card because I used cardstock for him but he does slide back and forth across the card and he’s on a wobbler for even more action! 😉

So I started by blending cracked pistachio and broken china distress oxides onto a piece of white cardstock and then flicked it with water.  I let it dry while I worked on my elephant.  I started by stamping the adorable ellie from Elephant of Surprise onto cardstock and colored her with copics before using the coordinating dies to die-cut her out.  Then I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and trimmed it down to create a window for my shaker.  I used a thin piece of acetate (from stamp set packaging) to create the shaker by sealing clear confetti over the blended background and adhering the edges of the acetate behind the background panel.  Then I taped a second piece of thin acetate around the first to allow my elephant to slide back and forth.  I used an action wobbler to attach the elephant and then adhered the sentiment panels to the background panel with foam mounting tape.

Heffy Doodle Blog Hop

I adore this little elephant…she’s so cute! 🙂 And I love that she can kinda prance back and forth across the shaker background!  Thanks for the idea Lesley!! 😉

To celebrate the launch of Heffy Doodle Lesley is giving away a Heffy Doodle cotton tote and a set of 12 distress oxide inks to one lucky commenter!  Leave a comment before 7 AM EST on July 20th for a chance to win!  The giveaway is open worldwide but you need to leave a comment on every hop stop!  Here’s a list of all the stops:
