Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Day 7 and a GIVEAWAY!!

11 Jun

Good morning!  We’re in the home stretch of the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!   Here is my 7th entry into the hop!  One more day to go! 😉

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop www.allthesparkle.comToday’s card is a big mix of stamp companies!  I started off by stamping the cats from Mama Elephant’s Purrfect Pair onto a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I also stamped a mug from Lawn Fawn’s Love You A Latte and one from Create a Smile’s Coffee First.  I stamped the mouse from Mama Elephant’s Ella and Friends onto the white cardstock and then stamped a second mouse on the back of an clear stamp.  I mounted that clear stamp upside down to an acrylic block and then mirror-stamped the mouse onto the cardstock so that I could get a second mouse facing in the opposite direction.  I colored all the images with copic markers, added a little glossy accents to noses and eyes, and a little clear wink of stella glitter to the pink ears.  I also die-cut the straws from Purrfect Pair and trimmed one down to make a smaller set for the mice.  I added a little red gelly roll glaze pen to try to create the red stripes on straws.  I like the dimension the red gives but I should have used a thinner tip for a more realistic straw.

I took a craft knife and cut a small slit in the large mug so that I could slide the straws into the coffee.  Then I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border and the Mama Elephant Borderline Trio to cut grass and hills from different shades of green cardstock.

To assemble the card I stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things onto a piece of blue cardstock trimmed to 4.25″x5.5″ and then I layered and adhered the grassy borders and hills onto the panel.  I added the mugs and critters with foam mounting tape to give them a little more dimension.  Unfortunately one layer of grass stuck out a little more than I wanted it to and the ATG tape had already gotten firmly attached so it wasn’t possible to move it.  So I die-cut a frame from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die set and used it to cover my mistake and also frame the scene.  It wasn’t my intention to add a frame but I really like how it turned out.  I adhered the panel to a top-folding A2 card base and that was it! 🙂

GIVEAWAY

I will be selecting one random commenter to win a $20 gift certificate to Lil’ Inker Designs to pick up some of their awesome coffee OR summer sets!  I will be posting each day during the Hop…each post you comment on will get you another chance to win!  If you missed a day you can find them here, here, here, here, here, and here!  Also, subscribing to my blog via the button on your right will also get you another chance (and if you’re already a subscriber, I’ll count that as an entry, too!)! 😉

Thanks so much for visiting and see you tomorrow for the final day of the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!
