Hydrangea Love!

12 Feb

Good morning!  I have a quick card to share today!  When the new Essentials by Ellen release came out on Tuesday I immediately jumped on the stunning Mondo Hydrangea stamp set and it arrived in the mail yesterday!!  I didn’t have much time to craft yesterday but I was able to finish one card! 🙂

I stamped the hydrangea and petals onto a piece of Arches cold press 140lb watercolor paper with versafine ink and heat-embossed them with clear powder.  Then I added little streaks of color in the centers of the flowers with my zig markers and blended them out with a waterbrush.  One of my favorite things about hydrangeas is that variety of shades that can be found within each flower petal so I tried to recreate that effect by mixing and matching a variety of pinks, purples, and blue shades (I’ll list the exact markers I used in the supply list below)!  After that dried I added a soft halo of washed out purple using my spectrum noir clear sparkle glitter brush.  I scribbled the purple on an acrylic block and picked it up with the spectrum noir brush.  I also went over each flower with the glitter brush for a little extra sparkle.

I trimmed down the watercolor paper and adhered it to a dark grey card base.  Finally I stamped a sentiment from Paper Smooches with versamark and heat-embossed it on the same dark grey cardstock with white embossing powder.  I trimmed the sentiment down into a label shape and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape!  I’m sure I will spend a good deal of my day continuing to play with this stamp set…there are ENDLESS possibilities for this gorgeous hydrangea!

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my card!  Have a fabulous Friday!

This card is so pretty! I love the way the petals are falling from the main flower, and I love the sentiment.

Hey Jess, oh so pretty! You’re coloring is always so gorgeous, the colors are perfect. Hydrangeas are my absolute most favorite flower of all time. I got married in April and they don’t bloom till August where I live, I wanted them in all the bouquets. I drove my poor mom and florist crazy, needless to say they had to be ordered at a heafty price. That sounded a little bridzilla, I promise I wasn’t, lol. Thanks for sharing, it brought back priceless memories. 🙂
