Share Handmade Kindness Shaker Pocket Cards

10 Nov

Good morning!  I have a quick set of shaker pocket cards to share today!

I finally had a chance to play with my Acts of Kindness stamp set from Hero Arts and I knew I wanted to use the sentiment ‘throw kindness around like confetti’ in a shaker!  I decided not to make a typical shaker card and made smaller shaker pocket cards instead!  I started by die-cutting rectangles from watercolor paper.  I did a quick watercolor wash on the backgrounds with my Gansai Tambi palette and let them dry.  Once they were totally I dry I stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder.  I plugged in my Fuse tool and while it was warming up I wrote messages on the back of each card.  Once the Fuse tool was heated I used it to fuse together stamp storage pockets.  I fused three sides of the pocket and then slid my card inside.  I packed it full of sequins, confetti, and beads and then sealed the final side with the Fuse tool.  Since the pocket is totally sealed the shaker bits won’t fall out and there’s enough room for them to really shake around!

I made 6 of these little shaker pocket cards in about 45 minutes (not including drying time) and they were REALLY fun to create!  Three will be headed out in the mail today to crafty friends and the other three are going to our local mail carrier and my two local post office workers who always kindly help me mail destash items and bulky or heavy happy mail!  These will be send out as part of Jennifer McGuire’s Week 2 Share Handmade Kindness challenge!  If you haven’t heard about it, I encourage you to go here and check it out!

And a quick happy mail update!  I’m sending out three cards today and yesterday I received this gorgeous card from Erica!  I am really enjoying sending out daily cards and it’s so exciting to open the mailbox and see an A2 envelope from a crafty penpal! 😉

Wow! What a fun card design and great use for the Fuse tool. I never use sequins because I don’t know what to do with them but this is really creative and cute. That saying is my favorite one from the stamp set!

I love this idea. A much easier way to make a shaker card that the original way. I have to try this. I have a fuse that is still in it’s box. Now I’ll get it out and start playing.
    thanks for the idea.
