Good morning! I’m deep in the midst of frantic Christmas card making but I took a brief break this week for some non-Christmas cardmaking! Simon Says Stamp just released their Friends collection of friendship and love-themed stamps, dies, and stencils and it is FABULOUS! I saw this animal-themed set and fell in love!
It’s been awhile since I’ve dabbled with watercolors but those adorable puppy paws were just screaming for some soft watercoloring! I kept it simple and pulled out my zig clean color real brush markers and a small round paintbrush. I started by stamping the paws onto Canson Montval cardstock with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I added a little color with the zig markers and then blended it out with a damp paintbrush. I also added a soft wash of blue in the background to highlight the fur colors. I also stamped the large paw on a scrap of cardstock, watercolored it, and fussy cut it without a border.
Next I stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed that down to a strip and adhered it to the bottom of the paws. I adhered that to a black card base and added the large paw with a little foam mounting tape to make it stand out a bit. Isn’t that an adorable stamp? I had SO much fun watercoloring those little puppy toes pink and black…what color are your pup’s toes? Now this is literally just one stamp set from the entire release….there’s SO much more amazingness in the release! I encourage you to head over and check out the Friends release ASAP!!
