STAMPtember Clearly Besotted Exclusive: My Best Friend

15 Sep

Good morning!  I am excited to introduce the next exclusive Stamptember collaboration set, My Best Friend, from Clearly Besotted!  Simon Says Stamp’s exclusive collaboration stamp sets are available for a limited time only – while supplies last.  Once these sets sell out they will not be restocked again. So if you love this set I highly recommend placing your order soon!

Here’s what I created!

To My Best Friend by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

When I saw this layering set I was inspired by my friend Emily to try using colored pencils on colored cardstock.  I’ve got a long ways to go to have my colored pencil work turn out like hers but it was fun to give it a try!  I started by stamping the solid layer in white pigment ink on soft navy cardstock.  Then I colored over it with a white colored pencil to create a solid white layer.  Next I layered on a bright pink.  If I hadn’t laid down the base of white colored pencil the pink wouldn’t really pop and I wanted it to be BRIGHT pink! 😉 Next I stamped the second layer with a red dye ink and then went over the lines with a dark red colored pencil.  Finally I stamped the top layer with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I repeated the process for the leaves using a light sage green colored pencil and a darker olive pencil for the second layer.  I stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I matted the navy cardstock on matte gold cardstock and then adhered it to a soft navy card base to finish the card.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for this pretty set!  Remember, these won’t last long so head over to Simon Says Stamp and snag yours now!!

This is so beautiful Jessica, I had to pop over to see how you did it. It’s been on my list for a while now to try this technique again (first tried over a year ago – there is always so much to learn!). I love the pink, gold and navy palette – it is such a striking card. Thank you for sharing with us! Lisa
