Colorburst “Confetti”

13 Nov

Good morning!  I’m still working on my RAK card stash so I created another quick set of colorful cards!

I LOVE that sentiment from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness stamp set and thought that the Ken Oliver Colorburst powders would create really pretty, no mess “confetti.”  I’ve been experimenting with watercolor papers and decided to use the Yupo paper for these cards.  It seems like the water doesn’t soak into paper as quickly as regular watercolor paper so the end result almost looks more like alcohol inks on glossy paper than traditional watercolors!  Again, not a look I’d want all the time but it definitely worked for confetti!

I had hoped to make a few more cards in this style but my cat woke up from her nap and started stalking my craft room table.  She’s a big fan of the watercolor powders and usually ends up traipsing all over my tables with red and purple paws so I’ve learned to only use them when she’s fast asleep.

Anyway, for these cards I taped the yupo paper to my work surface, spritzed them lightly with water, and then sprinkled the colorburst powders over the water.  Once I was happy with the coverage I let them dry completely overnight (cat-proofed) and then heat-embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder!  And then just to add a little sparkle I buffed on a little perfect pearls powder over the colorburst powders.  It is barely visible until you tilt the card and then it catches the light very nicely!

And a quick happy mail update…just one card completed today and it will be hand-delivered to a friend for his birthday later this weekend (but I’ll still count that as mailed happy mail!)! 😉

These are fabulous! The only thing that might make them better are paw prints traipsing across them! >^.^<
