Hero Arts September My Monthly Hero Countdown Day 1

4 Sep

Good morning!  This month Hero Arts is changing things up a bit for our My Monthly Hero kit previews and we’ll be sharing even more kit inspiration on our own blogs all weekend long!  And just a quick reminder, the kit will launch on Tuesday, September 8th this month (instead of Monday) due to the holiday.  I’m kicking things off with this card using inks included with the kit and the FANTASTIC new autumn heroscape! 🙂

September 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero Arts

Seriously…isn’t the scene gorgeous?!  It just screams fall to me!! (Speaking of screams, this is a pretty autumn scene…but you’ll see just how spooky this set can get in a few days!) 😉

Anyway, to start I stamped the two pumpkin layers using Lemon Drop and Creamsicle ink.  Then I stamped the ground layers with Moss and Grape Slush ink.  It’s fascinating how the Grape Slush ink layers with the Moss to create that rich brown color!  Then I stamped the two cornstalk layers with Lemon Drop and Cup O’ Joe ink.  These five inks are included in the kit and will layer together to give you this exact look! 🙂  Next I stamped cornstalk layers a second time onto another piece of cardstock using Cup O’ Joe and Intense-Ified Black ink.  I die-cut the ground part of the scenes with the coordinating die and then set it aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

Next I die-cut a circle from masking paper using the Infinity Circle dies and adhered the circle to a panel of strathmore bristol smooth cardstock.  Then I blended the sky with Soft Vanilla, Soft Apricot, Pumpkin Pie, and Cup O’ Joe ink.  I removed the mask and then added a little more Soft Vanilla and Lemon Drop to the sun.  I didn’t want any white showing on the card so I blended Soft Vanilla and Lemon Drop onto the edges of the corn stalks and then layered them onto the background so that the darker cornstalks were in the background, giving the card more dimension.  Finally I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment and crows with Embossing Ink and heat-embossed them with Black embossing powder to finish the card!

And that’s it for me!  Head over to the Hero Arts blog for more inspiration using the September My Monthly Hero kit all weekend long!!  And then I’ll be back Tuesday with three cards using the kit and add-ons! 😉 I’m telling you…it’s an AMAZING month! 😉

For a chance to win a kit before you can buy it, just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Tuesday morning, September 8, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic holiday weekend!

Another gem – so rich and amazing. One question – where did you get the perfect sentiment? I don’t see it on the kit. Thanks.
