Kissing Whales!

3 Apr

Good morning!  I was working on my card for Christmas Card Challenges (that you’ll see later today) and I really loved the distress ink background that I created.  So I made a second background panel…and then decided to make another card!  One of my new crafty friends on IG, Amy Y. (@sharingnewlove), made an adorable whale interactive card with acetate a few days ago and it gave me the idea to make an anniversary or wedding card using the same technique!

This is how my card will look out of the envelope:

But then you swing the two hearts towards each other…and this is what you get!

SO CUTE!  I love these whales! 🙂 To create my card I used Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire distress ink to create a blended background.  I sprinkled it with water to get a little variation in my sky.  I adhered each whale to a skinny strip of acetate.  I crossed the two strips of acetate to form an ‘X’ (with the crossing closer to the top of the ‘X’) and then punched a small hole through the place where the strips cross.  I also punched a small hole in the bottom third of my distress inked background.  Then I inserted a brad through the hole in the strips and the background panel attaching them together.

I die-cut waves from light and dark blue cardstock and adhered them to the background panel with very thin strips of a double-layer of foam tape.  I put foam tape on the sides of the card and in the areas where they wouldn’t interfere with the acetate strips swinging back and forth.  I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment onto a stitched fishtail banner and also added a little pink heart covered with spectrum noir sparkle and glossy accents!  I die-cut four dark blue hearts and adhered them to the bottom of the acetate strips to make it easier to see how to move the whales!

Anyway, you’ll see another whale and distress ink card a little later today but I wanted to share this sweet kissing whale card first!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
