Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #20: Fun With Food

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #20

Good morning and Happy New Year!  We’re starting off 2018 with a new Lawn Fawnatics challenge: Fun with Food!  Here’s what I created:

Have a Sweet Birthday by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Lawn Fawnatics

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to try to use more colors besides pink in my crafting this year!  I still stuck with my comfort zone of teals and purples but at least there’s no pink!! 😉 I started by coloring all the kitchen equipment and cupcake from Baked With Love and then I used my ScanNCut to cut all the images with a border.  I also stamped the sentiment from Baked with Love onto black cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder, and trimmed it down to a strip.  I set that aside while I worked on the background.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a smooshed background and figured it’d be the perfect way to convey the look of a messy kitchen post-baking session…or at least the way MY kitchen looks after a lot of baking! 😉 I smooshed tumbled glass, peacock feathers, and dusty concord distress ink onto a piece of acetate, spritzed it with water, and then pressed the acetate onto a piece of distress watercolor cardstock.  I held it in place for a few seconds to give the ink time to soak in and then lifted the acetate.  I let the background dry and then adhered the sentiment.  I arranged the baking elements with a mix of ATG adhesive and foam mounting tap for a little dimension.  Finally I added a few extra touches with a white gel pen, spectrum noir clear sparkle, a little nuvo crystal glaze, and a sprinkling of iridescent gems!

And now it’s your turn!  We want to see your yummy Lawn Fawn projects!  You can link up your entries on the Lawn Fawnatics blog and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Thanks so much for visiting and have an amazing 2018!
