Concord & 9th: Written in the Stars

10 Dec

Good morning!  In case you missed it, yesterday was the December release for Concord & 9th!  They released three fabulous stamp sets and I had the honor of guest designing for them for this release!  A few days ago I shared a card using the Tree Hugs stamp set and today I’m sharing a shaker card featuring Written in the Stars!

This is a fabulous building set that can be used to create whimsical scenes!  I never thought I would want or use telephone poles in a stamp set but they were really the perfect look for my card!

So, the minute I saw that stamp set I knew I wanted to create a distress inked sky with the telephone poles and trees in silhouette.  When we first moved into our home a few years ago I woke up early one morning, looked out our bedroom window and saw this beautiful sunrise:

It’s hard to tell but we have telephone poles at the edge of our property line and the stamp set reminded me of that view (the trees aren’t the same…but you get what I mean, right?) 😉 So I went a little more pastel with my shaker card but that was my inspiration!  I blended dried marigold, worn lipstick, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire, and black soot distress ink onto watercolor paper and then spritzed it with shimmer spray.  Once that dried I stamped some of the tiny stars from the stamp set and heat-embossed them with holographic embossing powder for a little sparkle.  It’s very subtle and only visible when you tilt the card but I love the way the light catches it!

I also stamped the shooting star and embossed it with silver embossing powder.  Next I stamped the telephone poles and trees with versafine and embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I die-cut an offset square from a panel of grey cardstock and adhered acetate to the back of the opening.  I built up a frame with foam mounting tape and then filled it with clear iridescent stars to finish my shaker.  I wanted it to look like a ton of shooting stars when you shake it!

Anyway, you should definitely head over to Concord & 9th and check out their December release (as well as all of their other fabulous products)!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
