Lawn Fawnatics: Challenge 4 – Black/White & Bright

1 May

Lots happening on the blog today!  For the Lil’ Inker Designs Mini Release and giveaway please click here!  For the Hero Arts May My Monthly Hero Blog Hop and giveaway (after 1pm) please click here!

Good morning!  It’s time for a new Lawn Fawnatics challenge and we’re challenging  you to create a card using black, white, and bright colors!  I was having so much fun that I made two!

Happy Birthday by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Lawn Fawnatics

I think my cards count for bright, right? 😉

Happy Birthday by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Lawn Fawnatics

For my first card I started by stamping the ‘happy’ word down a card panel using my Misti for easy alignment and spacing.  I colored each with copic markers in a rainbow pattern.  I used RV09, R29, YR16, Y18, G14, B04, and V15 for the shaker card.  Then just to really hit home on bright colors I adhered sequins down the sides of the panel in rainbow order.  I knew I was going to create a shaker but wanted to make sure that the effect of the rainbow sequins would stand out no matter where the rest of the shaker sequins were laying.

Next I die-cut a frame from black cardstock for the shaker.  I stamped the rest of my sentiment onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I trimmed it down to a thin strip and adhered it behind the frame.  Then I attached acetate to the back of the frame and built up a border with a double layer of foam mounting tape.  I filled the shaker with a rainbow of sequins as well as sparkling clear and glossy black sequins and sealed it up with the back panel.

My second card is similar to the first but not nearly as busy.  I stamped the sentiment down the front of the card and colored them with copics, but this time I used three shades for each color of the rainbow.  I used the following copic markers:

  • RV04, RV09, RV19
  • R24, R29, R39
  • YR16, YR18, YR68
  • Y15, Y18, Y19
  • YG05, G14, G19
  • B02, B16, B29
  • V01, V15, V17

Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment on black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I adhered the strip to the card and added a few sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.  Super involved and super CAS! 🙂 It’s not everyday that I manage to pull that off in one single post! 😉

And now it’s your turn!  We want to see your Lawn Fawn Black/White & Bright cards!!  You can link up your entries on the Lawn Fawnatics blog and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous Monday!

I love this card. I don’t have the same Happy Birthday stamp set but found a wood stamp in Michaels :/ to try to recreate. My daughters birthday is on Mothers day and I wanted a special card for her. She loves shaker cards and I never made one. It was fun but yes like you said you need to use a Mist which I didn’t have and I found out not to use cheap confetti because it sticks to the acetate and you can’t see my sequins. I even ordered Hero arts Blush ombre sequins but you can’t see them much. So next time I hope to have all the Hero arts ombre colors and do it again. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring us. I think I did pretty good. 🙂 I would share a picture here but I don’t know how.
