Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Countdown, Day 3

1 Nov

Good morning!  We’re continuing the November Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Countdown today and I’m sharing a cheery card using the new kit!

We’re introducing masking dies this month and they are amazing!  You can use them to mask an image and build a scene (as you’ll see in my card on Monday) or use them to die-cut stamped images with NO border!  I started by stamping my bird and branch with intens-ified black ink and then die-cut him with the masking die.  There are openings in the die to help you line up the die around the stamped image.  Alternatively you can also die-cut the paper first and then stamp using an alignment tool like the MISTI!  I colored them with copic markers and then set them aside while I created my background.

Next I stamped the background onto a panel of white cardstock using Blue Hawaii and Splash reactive inks.  I turned the background around to create a moonlit sky instead of a snowy ground.  I added a little shading to help turn it into a moon!  Then I stamped a sentiment from the kit with intens-ified black ink.  Next I adhered the branch with liquid adhesive and the bird with foam mounting tape for a little extra dimension!  Finally, I trimmed the panel down to 4″ by 5.25″ and then adhered it to a copic-colored background using the same reds I used for the bird!

And that’s it for me!  Head over to the Hero Arts blog for more inspiration using the November My Monthly Hero kit all weekend long!!  And then I’ll be back Monday with two more cards using the kit! 😉

For a chance to win a kit before you can buy it, just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, November 2nd, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic weekend!

I thought this was the most clever idea of all that I saw turning the stamp upside down.
