Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit: Favorite Person

14 Dec

Good morning! I’m so excited to share two cards I created using the brand new Simon Says Stamp January Favorite Person card kit!  I always love the card kits and all the versatile ways to use them and I was so excited to make a few Valentine’s Day cards!  I love making Christmas cards but it was really fun to get out the hearts and shimmery pink and red for Valentine’s Day this week!  So here’s what I created:

Simon Says Stamp January 2018 Card Kit My Favorite Person by Jessica Frost-BallasI really struggle sometimes with how to use patterned paper but with this kit, the cards almost creates themselves…the stamp set goes SO well with the embellishments and patterned papers in the kit!

For my first card I simply cut a piece of patterned paper from the kit to 4″ by 5.25.”  Then I brushed some craft glue across the paper with a dry paintbrush and then sprinkled it with the glitter in the kit.  I set that aside to dry while I worked on the sentiment.  I started by taking a piece of scrap cardstock and adhered double-sided tape to the edges.  Then I sprinkled the glitter over the cardstock and burnished it in with my bone folder.  I adhered that to the glittery patterned paper and then adhered that to a white card base.  Finally I simply cut the sentiment panel from one of the pieces of patterned paper and mounted it to the glitter frame with foam mounting tape.

Love all that sparkle and shine!!

My second card uses a few other Simon Says Stamp products with the kit.  I started by die-cutting a GORGEOUS piece of patterned paper from the kit and a piece of black cardstock with the Drifting Stitches die and adhered them together at an offset.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the set onto a white card base with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I adhered the patterned paper and black cardstock over the white cardstock.  Finally I finished the card with a few puffy heart stickers from a previous kit and a black confetti heart!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for the new My Favorite Person kit!  Remember, you can subscribe to their no-obligation kits and receive them monthly for $24.95, or purchase them each month for $29.99 (while supplies last).  I have a feeling this kit is going to sell out VERY quickly so if you’re interested I’d recommend heading over and picking up the My Favorite Person kit as soon as possible! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I love the way you applied the glitter in the first card, so cool! The layout on the second card is perfect and that paper is beautiful. I don’t think I could cut up those papers, they’d probably end up in my hoarding stash 🙂

I really like both of your Valentine cards. I actually prefer making Valentine cards over Christmas.
