A Blog Named Hero: Challenge – New To Me

2 Jan

Good morning!  I am super excited to be here with the first 2017 challenge for A Blog Named Hero!  Our January collaboration is with Right at Home stamps and we’re challenging you to do something that’s new to you!  We were lucky enough to receive the brand new release from Right at Home stamps as our something new but I decided to try another new technique for my card!

I love the coffee cups from Nicole’s new set, Cup of Joy, and thought I could decorate them using several background stamps from Hero Arts!  (Just a quick heads-up Cup of Joy isn’t available for purchase just yet but check back on January 5th!).  To create my card I used traditional masking to stamp my mugs and cups.  Then I stamped my mugs and cups on plain printer paper and carefully cut the mugs out leaving the negative space behind.  I laid my printer paper over the mug to protect the background and other mugs and stamped several background stamps with black ink.  In the image below you can see the printer paper laying over the cardbase and you can also see the other cup that has been masked off to protect it from the background stamp.  Hopefully that makes sense!

I repeated the process for all of my mugs and cups before coloring them with copic markers.  Next I grounded my images with a little shading and then added the sentiment.  I also stamped the whipped cream on another piece of white cardstock, colored it with copic markers, and fussy cut it before adhering it to my cup with foam mounting tape.  It just adds a little change in texture which is fun!  And that’s it!

Many thanks to Right at Home for sponsoring our challenge this month and I can’t wait to see what you create!  Head over to A Blog Named Hero to see inspiration from the rest of the design team and more details on the challenge!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
