Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge #11: Embossing

9 Jul

Good morning!  Today we’re starting the tenth challenge for Where Creativity Meets C9 and our theme is Embossing!  You can find all the details and the rest of the design team’s creations here!

We are sponsored by the fantastic Concord & 9th and one lucky random entry will receive a $25 gift certificate for a Concord & 9th shopping spree and our favorite entry will be asked to guest-design for a future challenge!

I decided to combine heat-embossing with dry embossing and here’s what I created:

Oh Happy Day by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Where Creativity Meets C9

Jennifer McGuire is quite the technique genius…I saw this post of hers a few months ago and mentally filed it away in the to-try column…and I thought this challenge would be the perfect time to try it out.  And I. AM. HOOKED!  Thank you Jennifer!! 😉

So I highly recommend that you go watch her video but here’s the basic idea.  You very VERY lightly ink a die with versamark and then run it through your big shot (or die-cutting machine) using an embossing pad which creates an impression of the die in your paper instead of cutting the paper.  I started by inking the Detailed Blooms die with versamark and then dry embossed it onto a piece of watercolor paper.  Next I heat-embossed the die with gold embossing powder.  If you ink the die lightly it will leave a super delicate outline of your die on the paper.  It’s so beautiful!

Then I smooshed shabby shutters, picked raspberry, and candied apple distress ink onto a craft mat and loosely watercolored the embossed image.  I let it dry completely and then stamped the sentiment from Enjoy it All and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.  Finally I trimmed the panel down to 4″ by 5.25″ and adhered it to a shimmery pink cardstock.

And now it’s your turn!  The challenge ends on July 28th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous week!
