Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge #1 – Celebration

9 Sep

This is my second post for today.  For my MarkerPop post please click here!

challenge1

Good morning!!  Today I have the pleasure of introducing the very first Where Creativity Meets C9 challenge!  I’m still in a little bit of disbelief that Greg and Angie gave the go ahead for this challenge blog AND that 8 super talented designers accepted my offer to join the team!  I am so excited to get this challenge started and I really hope you’ll play along!  You can find all the details and the rest of the design team’s creations here!

We are sponsored by the fabulous Concord & 9th and one lucky random winner will receive a $25 gift certificate for a Concord & 9th shopping spree and our favorite entry will be asked to guest-design for a future challenge!

And here’s what I created for our Celebration theme:

I love those adorable birds!  To start I blended picked raspberry, spun sugar, shaded lilac, and blueprint sketch distress ink onto a piece of watercolor paper and let it dry for a few minutes.  Then I pressed a versamark pad all over the watercolor paper and heat-embossed it with holographic embossing powder for a gorgeously sparkly look!

Next I placed the By Your Side Bird dies onto a piece of black cardstock and ran it through my Bigshot.  I love that the ends of the branch the birds are sitting on doesn’t cut all the way through so the birds are attached to the black cardstock.  I removed the cut outline of the birds (which I saved for another card) and then slid the distress inked background behind the birds.  I used a little adhesive to make sure the distress inked panel won’t slide out.  Then I stamped the banner from Happy Day and added the sentiment inside the banner.  I stamped them with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I die-cut the banner with the coordinating dies and then tucked it under the birds wings and added a little adhesive to keep it in place.  Finally I added a few sparkling clear sequins to finish the card!

So now it’s your turn!  The challenge ends on September 29th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!

Hi Jess, what a sweet card! I love that you made the birds in silhouette style, such a cute die! Of coarse that background is gorgeous, they always are. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
