Where Creativity Meets C9 Challenge #15: Christmas

9 Nov

Good morning!  Today we’re starting the 15th challenge for Where Creativity Meets C9 and our theme is CHRISTMAS!  You can find all the details and the rest of the design team’s creations here!

We are sponsored by the fantastic Concord & 9th and one lucky random entry will receive a $25 gift certificate for a Concord & 9th shopping spree and our favorite entry will be asked to guest-design for a future challenge!

I was very lucky to get a little sneak preview of the Beautiful Branches that was just released and I decided to use it for today’s card!  Here’s what I created:

Joy by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Where Creativity Meets C9

I love the Beautiful Branch set and how versatile it can be for different seasons!  I started by blending a little Pine Needles distress ink onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Many many thanks to Tina for the tip about using Bristol for ink blending…seriously, it’s life-changing!  It’s so much easier to blend softer shades than Neenah!  After trying it once I might have immediately run to Michaels and bought three more pads so that I’ll never be without again! 😉 After blending I blasted it with my heat gun once or twice and then stamped the branch with Ground Espresso distress ink.  Then I added the berries with Fired Brick distress ink.  Finally I stamped a few of the scripty words from Joyful Noel with Pine Needles distress ink that I stamped off once before stamping on my card panel.  Finally I flicked the panel with copic opaque white and set it aside to dry while I worked on the sentiment.

Joy by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Where Creativity Meets C9

I started by die-cutting the Joy from white cardstock three times.  I layered them together to create a thicker embellishment and then stamped a versamark pad over the letters.  I heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder to create a sparkly, dimensional sentiment.  Once the background panel was totally dry I trimmed it down and adhered it to a red card base.  Then I adhered the Joy sentiment with regular adhesive.  Finally I added nuvo drops in glossy white over some of the copic white splatters to create a more dimensional embellishment!

And now it’s your turn!  The challenge ends on November 28th and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more design inspiration throughout the month!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous week!
