Good afternoon! It’s time for another Anything Goes week at Christmas Card Challenges and I had so much fun that I ended up with an extra non-Christmas card using the same stamps that I shared earlier this morning! So, here’s my Christmas card:
We’re going to forget the whole orcas eat penguins thing and pretend that they all have the Christmas spirit…plus if penguins were the same size as orcas, things might be a little different! 😉
A few weeks ago I went a little whale happy and cut about of the Mama Elephant 50 whales with my Scan N Cut. So I was trying to think of how I might incorporate them into my Anything Goes Christmas card and decided to go with a interspecies friendship theme. I started by stamping a bunch of my penguins onto white cardstock with copic friendly Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then cut them with my Scan N Cut….that thing is SUCH a time-saver! Best crafty investment EVER! I also stamped the little present several times and colored them with copic markers.
I blended Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire distress inks onto watercolor paper and spritzed it with shimmer spray. Once the background panel was totally dry I stamped the sentiment and star and heat-embossed them. The sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder and the star is embossed with white tinsel embossing glitter.
Next I die-cut a little icy snowbank from white cardstock for my penguin. Then I stamped the fun curly waves on dark blue cardstock and vellum and heat-embossed it with embossing powder. On the dark blue cardstock I embossed the waves with white embossing powder and on the vellum I embossed the waves with white tinsel embossing glitter. I used scissors to fussy cut the top edge of the waves.
Then it was time to assemble my card! I attached my snowbank and waves first. I used a combination of ATG adhesive and foam mounting tape to create dimension in my layers. Finally I adhered my penguin, orca, and gift!
And now it’s your turn to get crafty! We provide an inspiration palette or photo each week but really, the only rule is that you create a holiday card! For even more inspiration, check out what the rest of the design team has created!
Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!
