My new stamp obsession….

7 Feb

Don’t forget to comment on the Hero Arts February My Monthly Hero blog hop for a chance to win the February My Monthly Hero Kit!  You can find that post here!

So guys, I have a confession to make…when I first saw the Emma, Elizabeth, and Elinor background stamps from Simon Says Stamp I thought they were pretty but they weren’t on the top of my wish list because I wasn’t quite sure how I’d use them.  But then I saw a few gorgeous examples from Laura Bassen and Debby Hughes and they immediately moved up to the top of my wish list.  I’m still waiting on two of them but I’ve got the Emma and it just might be my most favorite stamp ever.  Seriously.  This stamp embosses like a dream and it is stunning!  And psst, they just restocked it! 😉

Love is All We Need by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

Of course I had to break out my most favorite gold tinsel embossing powder and it did not disappoint! 😉

Love is All We Need by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

To start I laid the stamp over a piece of watercolor paper and lightly marked the outline of the stamp with a pencil so I’d know where to blend ink.  Then I removed the stamp and blended festive berries, abandoned coral, and picked raspberry distress ink across the watercolor panel starting in the top left corner and blending down towards the bottom right corner.  Once it dried completely I prepped it with a powder tool and then stamped the Emma background stamp across the panel with versamark before heat-embossing it with gold tinsel embossing powder.Love is All We Need by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

Next I stamped the sentiment from Kristina’s Love with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I used the coordinating word die to die-cut ‘love’ and then trimmed it down the rest of the sentiment to a label.  I adhered the sentiment to the panel with foam mounting tape and finish the card by adding a sprinkling of metallic gold sequins.

And then I went in a totally different direction! 😉

Love You More Each Day by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Simon Says Stamp

I love the combination of black and gold and wanted to throw a very non-Valentine’s Day color in the mix so I chose teal!  I stamped the Emma background onto black cardstock with versamark and then heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder.  Then I followed the same steps as my previous card for the sentiment from Kristina’s Love but used Audrey Blue cardstock with the gold embossing powder.  I finished the card with a sprinkling of metallic gold and aquamarine sequins!

So yes, I cannot recommend this stamp enough…it is gorgeous and so versatile!  My next goal is to use it for Christmas cards…I hope to share those later this week! 🙂 Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

gorgeous cards! The teal almost glows on the black background – wow! I am wondering if it would not be easier to ink blend after embossing, then it should be easy to see where the image is?!

Hi Jess ~ Both of your cards are stunning but there’s something about gold on a black background that always grabs me. That card is classically stunning. Thanks so much for sharing. ~HUGS~
