Hero Arts February My Monthly Hero Blog Hop

6 Feb

Good afternoon!  Today is the release day for the Hero Arts February My Monthly Hero kit and it’s a must-have!!  You should have arrived from May but if not, you can head to the Hero Arts Blog to start at the beginning!  The February kit is now available for purchase at Hero Arts but once they’re sold out, they’re gone for good so make sure to head over and shop soon!

The kit contains:

  • 1 4X6 clear stamp set
  • 20 coordinating dies
  • 1 coordinating stencil, with several cutouts included
  • 1 Soft Sky ink cube
  • 1 sponge for daubing
  • 2 thin rolls of glitter washi tape in blue and silver
  • 1 skein silver embroidery thread
  • Vellum in blue and patterned white
The kit value is over $70, an amazing deal at just $34.99!
And there are several optional add-on items:

Here’s what I created using the kit:

Wishing You a Purrfect Day by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsI know everyone might not agree but I kinda love rainy days….especially when I can just watch them from the comfort of my window.  And sometimes my cat will join me! 😉

To create my card I die-cut the window with white cardstock and then ran it through my bigshot with the coordinating die that embosses the pretty design into the window die.  I also die-cut the kitty with black cardstock and adhered her to the window sill.  Next I used a pencil to lightly outline the window die on my card panel so could mask it off to create my sky.  I taped off the edges and then blended chipped sapphire, blueprint sketch, and salty ocean distress ink onto my panel to create my sky.

Wishing You a Purrfect Day by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero ArtsI let the distress ink dry completely and then placed the cloud stencil over my sky and used the sponge to dab unicorn white pigment ink over the sky.  I moved the cloud stencil a few times and dabbed the ink on to create dimension.  While the pigment ink was still wet I sprinkled it with sparkle embossing powder and heat-set it.  Then I removed the masking tape and stamped the sentiment with intense black ink.  Finally I adhered the window with foam mounting tape and that’s it!

giveawayTo celebrate the release Hero Arts is giving away one kit as a prize to one blog reader selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop so make sure you leave a comment at each hop stop for the most chances to win!  If you win and have already purchased the kit you will be reimbursed!  Here’s a list of all the stops on the hop:

Jess, what a peaceful card. Love the colors and the cat in the window. Great use of vellum with the clouds. I’m so in love with this kit and add ons.

I have a kitty that watches the rain (or snow) falling outside our window too. A very sweet scene! Love the great effect of the sparkle EP added onto the cloud. It adds another texture to it. Great kit, great card! Thanks for sharing.

Love your card. The detail on around the window is great. The detail you did on the background within the window is pretty.

Hi! What a cool and clever card! I love the whole idea! I wonder if the dog stamps could lay horizontallyrics on the window shelf? I love your sky!

Oh my gosh! The window looks so real! I love the cat looking out the window too. When my cat was alive, she died in the 80’s, we had an ice cream table near our living room picture window. I have a photo of her sitting on the table looking out the window. She was an all white Maine Coon. I happened to be looking at a cat calendar one year and saw the photo in a there! The cat had her head turned a little bit more then my cat but it was almost the same photo. I wonder what the chances of that happening are? Your card reminds me of my cat photo. I really love it! I also love how you did the raindrops and the cloud. I want to try that when I win. Thank you for allowing us to win this kit. I can’t afford to buy it but I can certainly afford to win it! LOL

I’m a little late commenting but I had to tell you I love your card! I’ve been making my way through the hop now I have my kit, and I’m so glad you did a card using these dies….I have to admit I was slightly stumped on how to use them. =) The ink blending and that die cut cat are just perfect. And I agree with you on rainy days…I like them too! Thanks so much for sharing. =)
