Good morning! Today I’m honored to be featured over on the Lawn Fawn blog using Winter Skies! Kristin, from the Lawn Fawn office is also sharing a card using the same set! I can’t wait to see what she created! For my card, I decided to use the set in a slightly different way. Instead of looking at the sky my two critters are looking into a cozy home all decorated for the holidays! And there’s a little extra surprise inside!
From the front it’s a pretty normal holiday card! I used several Lawn Fawn dies and patterned papers to create a cheery door with a glittery holiday wreath. I added a sentiment from Merry Messages and used a little foam tape to add dimension to my sentiment and door.
And then you open the card to find a cozy holiday shadow box! My two critters are coming from the cold and taking a moment to look at their warm, festive house before going inside! I colored images from Winter Skies and Christmas Dreams and added a patterned paper wall and floor to create the inside of my shadow box. And when you open the card, this happens:
!!!! It lights up the Christmas tree! I followed this fabulous tutorial from Eiko Uchida to create a sliding circuit so that the lights turn off when the card is closed (thus conserving the battery)! This is what the front and back of the circuit panel looks like behind that colored panel!
I love that you don’t know what you’re going to get until you open the card…the outside really kinda plays down what’s to come! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend!
