A new business venture?!

24 Mar

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of running my first crafting “class” and I wanted to write up a quick post about it for those who were interested!  I was asked by a harp student’s mother to help a small group of girls make some cards as a fun activity during the student’s birthday sleepover party!  Originally I was thinking of just doing some basic stamping and embossing but as I started browsing Pinterest I found this cute tutorial from Damask Love and decided to help the girls make custom notepads!

I chose the adorable In Print set from Clearly Besotted as I thought it’d be a fun way to let the girls make their own creative decisions on color and layout!  And they certainly did! 😉

We started off by stamping a few cards just so they could get a feel for the ink pads and how much pressure they’d need to stamp an image cleanly.  I was surprised at how quickly and easily they picked it up!  And they did a fabulous job cleaning the stamps after each use…love those babywipes!

After they were comfortable with stamping and had finished their cards we moved onto the notepads.

They were able to decorate three sides of the pad with stamps and then used washi tape for the sticky side.  It was fun seeing how some of them would fill the sides of the notepad with animals while others would reserve each side for a single animal.  Some added googly eyes or additional stamped images and others drew embellishments and design elements by hand.  I LOVED seeing their creativity!

IMG_9963I had a fantastic time with these girls!  They were so polite and engaged in their crafting!  It was wonderful to watch them work and it was definitely a great introduction to the world of crafting as a potential business! 😉

They all look so happy and proud. That’s a great way to start them off crafting. I have to laugh because my grandchildren have their own drawers of supplies in my craft room and as soon as they get to my house, they are in there creating, even the boys. Such a great idea for a birthday party. Cute pictures too.
