Fawny Holiday Week!

17 Nov

Good morning!  This week Lawn Fawn is celebrating Fawny Holiday Week and today I’m sharing an acetate card and accompanying shaker tag using some of my favorite holiday Lawn Fawn sets in a slightly untraditional color palette! 😉 If you couldn’t tell I’ve kinda been loving my pink and purple Christmas cards!  Today is also a Lawn Fawn-filled day because I’ll be up on the Lawn Fawnatics blog later today with another holiday card!

Holiday Greetings by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Lawn Fawnatics

I started by blending abandoned coral, worn lipstick, and shaded lilac distress ink onto a large piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I flicked the blended panel with water droplets and white acrylic paint to get the look of snowfall and then set it aside to dry.  Next I stamped the critters and houses from Snow Cool, Here We Go A-Waddling, and Winter Village onto white cardstock with versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I colored all of them with copic markers in a pink and purple palette and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies.  I added a little clear spectrum noir sparkle to scarves, hats, earmuffs, and roofs.  Then I added a little liquid glue and white iridescent glitter to some of the houses and critters to create the look of glittery snow!

Next I die-cut the stitched hillside borders with white cardstock several times and die-cut the forest border die with silver glitter cardstock.  I layered those over the distress inked background and adhered them.  I stamped the sentiment across the bottom of the card and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder.  Then I took an piece of acetate cut to 4.25″ by 6″ and scored it across the top at 5.5″.  I adhered the .5″ strip to the back of the distress inked panel and folded the rest of the acetate over the front of my card.  Then I adhered another stitched hill to the front of the acetate and added my penguins and their snow penguin. When you lift the acetate you’re left with the peaceful snowy scene you see below but when the acetate is down you have the fun penguins playing in the snow as shown in the photo above.

Finally, I just wanted to use the rest of the distress inked panel and my singing penguins so I stamped the shaker from Ready, Set, Snow, heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder, and die-cut the shaker tag.  I filled my shaker with clear sequins, glitter, buffalo snow, clear beads, and chunky glitter and then sealed it up with the distress inked background.  I tucked the penguins in front of the shaker and added a little nuvo crystal glaze to the sentiment of the shaker.  I finished the card by adding a little deep pink ribbon and silver twine!

I love how the tag and card coordinate and can be used together for a gift this holiday season.  The shaker tag can also be turned into an ornament and hung on the tree!

I hope you enjoyed my projects for Fawny Holiday Week and make sure to head over to the Lawn Fawn blog for a chance to win a prize from them!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a fabulous Friday!
