Krumspring Stamps Anniversary Blog Hop (+GIVEAWAYS!)

20 Aug

Good morning!  I was honored to guest-design for Maria and Krumspring Stamps last spring and am so excited to be a stop on the Anniversary Blog Hop!  There are 8 new stamps sets available now and I’m using the fabulous Drinks Are On Me for my card!

Cheers by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Krumspring Stamps

We’re reaching the end of the summer here but tropical drinks are good all year long and this stamp set is perfect for making a bright and cheerful cocktail card!  I started by stamping the glasses across a piece of distress watercolor paper with versamark and then heat-embossed them with silver embossing powder.  Next I watercolored the drinks with picked raspberry, abandoned coral, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, and peacock feathers distress ink.  I concentrated the color on the left side of each glass and then used water to blend it out to the other side of the glass resulting in a little bit of soft shading!  Next I applied spectrum noir clear sparkle to each drink and then added a layer of nuvo crystal glaze to each glass.  I set that aside to dry overnight while I worked on the rest of the card.

Next I stamped the little citrus slices, straws, and hibiscus flowers on a scrap piece of watercolor paper and heat-embossed them with the same silver embossing powder (on a side note, the orange slices appear to be heat-embossed with gold embossing powder but I think that’s just a result of slightly sloppy watercoloring…oops).  I watercolored them with distress inks, let them dry, and then fussy cut them.  The next morning I stamped the sentiments onto black cardstock and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder.  I trimmed them down to labels and adhered them to the (now dried) background panel.  Then I used a mixture of regular adhesive and foam mounting tape to add the slices, straws, and flowers to my drinks.  Finally I applied a layer of nuvo crystal glaze to the drink decorations and let them dry completely.  Once everything was dried I trimmed my panel down by an 1/8th of an inch on both sides and mounted it to a black card panel.  This wasn’t the fastest card to put together but I really love how it turned out.  All those extra applications of crystal glaze and spectrum noir clear sparkle were totally worth it! 😉

To celebrate the first anniversary of Krumspring Stamps Maria is giving away a $10 gift certificate for each stop on the hop!  Leave a comment on each stop for 16 chances to win a $10 gift certificate OR the grand prize – which is a Prize Packet containing lots of Krumspring Stamps!  The giveaway ends August 23rd at 12 pm Central European Time (7AM EST). Winners will be announced on the Krumspring Blog later that day!  Here’s a list of all the stops on the hop:
