Lawnscaping FIT September Hop

25 Sep

Good morning!  My series on adding sparkle to cards can be found here: Day 1, 2, 3, 4 and there’s a sparkly giveaway, so make sure to check it out!

LS Sept

Today is the last Friday of the month so it’s time for the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team Blog Hop, sponsored by The Ink Road!  This is my first month participating and I’m excited to join in the fun!  This month we’re inspired by dark blue!

Leave a comment on all of the blogs in the hop for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to The Ink Road!  You should arrived from Lexa’s blog and your next stop is Suzanne! (A full list of all hop stops is at the bottom of this post!)

Here is my card, inspired by dark blue!

To create my card I started off by watercoloring the background sky and water with Gansai Tambi watercolors!  I love the creamy and rich effect the Gansai Tambi watercolors give!  Then I decided where my horizon line would fall and then masked off the water portion of the card.  I sprayed the top half with spray adhesive and then placed a used dryer sheet over the adhesive.  I smoothed it with my fingers and then sprinkled glitter all over the dryer sheet.  I rubbed the glitter into the sheet and then tapped off the excess.  I let that dry while I worked on the rest of the card.

Next I stamped the narwhal and stack of presents onto cardstock with Versafine and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I colored them with copics and added a little wink of stella to the narwhal’s horn and the ribbons.  I also stamped the iceberg onto vellum with versamark and embossed it with hologram sparkle embossing glitter.  I also die-cut the sentiment with dark blue cardstock and pressed my versamark pad over the sentiment.  I heat-embossed it with clear ultra high embossing powder to give it a raised, shiny look!  Finally I die-cut some icy hills with white and silver cardstock.

To assemble my card I adhered the hills over the background with my ATG gun.  Then I adhered the narwhal with foam mounting tape, adhered the iceberg with vellum tape, and adhered the stack of presents with foam mounting tape.  I used ranger multi-medium matte to attach the sentiment to the dryer sheet background and used a clean acrylic block to hold down the sentiment as it dried.  Last I mounted the panel to a top-folding white card base!  Lots of fun dark blue goodness all over my card! 🙂

I hope my card inspires you to use dark blue in your creations!  Get hopping and don’t forget to leave a comment on every hop stop for a chance to win $25 to The Ink Road!  Also, make sure you leave your email address so that we can contact you if you win!

Such a sweet scene. You’ve created such depth by the way you layered all the different elements. I love it – plus the dryer sheet method, too! It makes totally glitter effects but can be a bit messy while fun ♥
