Sunny Meadow Fair Release from Purple Onion Designs

Good morning!  I’m excited to share a card using the new Sunny Meadow Fair release from Purple Onion Designs!  I had this design in my head as soon as I saw the new products and I was amused to realize that it was the same layout as one of the release advertisement graphics.  Oops! 😉  But one of my favorite springtime activities has always been spending a day or two at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and the layout of the rollercoaster with the park (or fair in this case) in the background was just etched in my mind from lots of wonderful memories!

This is basically a one-layer card which is a rarity for me!  I stamped the Roller Coaster onto a piece of white cardstock and a piece of masking paper.  Then I fussy-cut a mask from the masking paper and placed it over the stamped image.  I stamped the Fairgrounds and sentiment from Carnival Fair Blurbs over the mask and then removed the mask.  Next I spent a little time relaxing and coloring in the scene with copic markers.  I also added a little extra grass with a copic multi-liner.  I used traditional blending for most of the scene but then used dot coloring and a cloth dipped in alcohol blending solution to create the textured sky.  I added a few accents with a white gel pen and crystal glaze.  Finally I added jewel drops to the rim of the ferris wheel to create the effect of glowing lights!

And that’s it!  I don’t often do a full card’s worht of coloring so I really enjoyed just taking some time to color and bring this scene to life!  And with all the fun elements of this release you could create all sorts of amusement park and carnival fair adventures!
