Runway-Inspired Challenge #78: DKNY

18 Feb

I love the inspiration photo for this week’s Runway-Inspired Challenge so I decided to play along!

Runway-Inspired Challenge #78 It’s so bright and cheerful…and as we’re preparing for a few more days in the single digits I really wanted to create something that reminded me of summer!

Here’s my card:

Runway-Inspired Challenge #78 www.allthesparkle.comI decided to NOT make the same mistake I made last time by only looking at the photo on my phone so I was able to easily see that the coral stripes alternate with light blue.  (It did look white on my phone but it’s definitely blue!)  However there are pops of white in the model’s shoes and choker.

I started off with a 4″x6″ side-folding card base of Neenah Solar White card stock.  Then I stamped the solid border from the Mama Elephant Basic Borders set 5 times diagonally with Hero Arts shadow ink in Sky Blue.  I took a scrap piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and swiped WPlus9 Flamingo Ink onto the card stock until it was thoroughly covered.  After that dried, I die cut it with the Hero Arts Chrysanthemum die.  I adhered the die cut over the card with mini glue dots.  Next I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die to cut the horizontal edges of the vellum banner.  I deliberately used a larger die so I’d be able to cut off the sides of the banner so the stitched edge is only on the top and bottom.  I prepped the vellum with my powder tool, stamped the sentiment from Altenew Many Thanks set with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and heat embossed it with Hero Arts clear embossing powder.  I like using a stitched edge on vellum because I can hide adhesive behind the stitched edge so it’s not visible!  I added a lot of adhesive behind the sentiment and along the stitched edge of the vellum and then adhered it to the front of the card!

Runway-Inspired Challenge #78 www.allthesparkle.comTo finish the card I added a couple Neat and Tangled Powder Blue satin sequins.  I love the color combination and I totally understand why DKNY based an entire show on that combo! 🙂

I’m also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: A Piece of Paradise because these colors definitely remind me of a sunny paradise!

Thanks for visiting!
